Does anyone think itis super patriotic to suspend your campaign to go to washington?

and work across party lines and come to an agreement on the bailout?Does anyone think itis super patriotic to suspend your campaign to go to washington?
yesDoes anyone think itis super patriotic to suspend your campaign to go to washington?
Has zero to do with being a patriot. Has everything to do with politics. He screwed up last Monday when he said the ';fundamentals of the economy are strong'; which he had said many times prior to that. His campaign knows it shows a disconnect and he started to fall behind in the polls. Now he is trying to prove he is a leader. Political move and nothing more.
Nope.

But, I do think it is a pathetic political ploy by Republican McCain to avoid having to talk real issues during a tumultuous time in America.

I hope that Obama shows his real patriotism by saying ';No'; to the request to delay! The people want to hear what the candidates have to say.

The facts are that neither candidate can do much in D.C. to ';fix'; this mess...they can say their piece on the Senate floor and they can vote...that's it!
not really.

but wow does it make you look bad if you don't AND a bill is passed over the weekend.

it's a very interesting political move, very risky.

no bill and it's all for nothing, a bill today and it looks silly, a bill next week and it's a foolish thing to do an who knows what will happen.
No, I don't think it's patriotic, but I think it's politically very cynical and very brilliant -- just like his selection of Palin as his running mate was. It gets his supporters worked up even more -- ';Look at our guy! He cares more about the country than the campaign! Why can't Obama be as big?';
It's what being a leader is all about. Putting aside personal aspirations for a cause greater than self.

So far: no comment from the Obama side, I say they're stunned trying to figure out if McCain is trying to make them look bad or if it's truly coming from the heart.
McCain needs this fixed, I wont candy coat it, but I think WE all need this fixed as well. and I'm not sure Bush's plan is the way to go. If it takes the 2 party leaders ( and right now they kind of are) to go there and hammer it out, im for it
I think it is a political ploy meant to make Obama look like he is less patriotic than McCain. Everything during a political election is a campaign. Don't be fooled.
OH PLEASE....MCCAIN KNEW ABOUT THE ECONOMY'S CONDITION FOR WEEKS NOW BUT NOW HE WANTS TO SUSPEND HIS CAMPAIGN TO GO TO WASHINGTON??? WHATEVER...HE'S JUST RUNNING FROM THE DEBATES THIS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!
Let you know he can't do 2 things at one time (lol). They are trying to say we can't get a loan. Republicans lie like it is the truth.

This is just a gainsmanship tactic.

Johnny is a scaredy cat.
No it is a publicity stunt and he hopes to get a bump in the polls. Work across party lines? Yeah right! He is going to support Bush and Cheny and pass this Corporate Welfare package....
Last week he said the fundamentals were strong, Now it is such a crises that he needs to be in Washington on Friday for it.

Its a political stunt.. thats all
Not when your just using it as an excuse to back out of the debates because you are too chicken **** to show up.

McCain by his own admission knows absolutely nothing about economics, how could he possibly help?
Patriotic? Bull!! It;s something me might expect them to do.

Isn't that their job? This applies to Obama, Biden and Obama. Are they not senators???

hi folks, John McCain here. I'm suspending the war in Iraq to work on the Economic crisis.

I hope nothing else happens. I don't multitask very well.
McCain has not stepped foot into the Senate since March. He has missed more time than the Senator who had brain surgery.

How patriotic is that?
do you even know anything about the bailout..

it all has to do with Americans, not the government.

Oh geez.... whats he gonna do.... vote with the majority and fix everything... this isn't going to be fixed over the weekend.
McCain voted to cut veterans' benefits. He has no right to claim patriotism or to question anyone else's.
I doubt McCain is thinking about patriotism here.

This is just a political ploy and nothing more.
Even as an Obama supporter, I can't deny how ';clever'; a move this is.
No. I think he's stalling so he can prepare for the buttkicking he's going to get at the debates.
I think it's manipulative chickensh*t.
I think it's super un-patriotic to unabashedly lie to the American people.
He doesn't need to suspend his campaign to cast his vote..he's scared.
regardless of the extreme leftish answer the first person gave i would say its the next step america needs to take in washington. its too one sided there we have to come together to get things done mccain knows it and has always acted that way. its about time someone stepped up its only a shame that so vary many are allowing the media to brainwash them into thinking that mccain is not good for the country when really he is better than any for many years.
a shame the democrats didnt pass his bill that could have avoided this in the first place.;l lets lay the blame where it belongs. on the democratic congress and senate.

they have done literally NOTHING the past 2 yrs.
Even Bill Clinton has said McCain is one of the most patriotic person he knows. McCain will go back to Washington to try and help straighten out the mess the Democrats have caused.
Obama is glad the economy is struggling, it's his chance to swoop down and save us with socialism. YAY
Yes, better McCain than Obama in these matters.
I do. I think the selfish democrats need to do the same.
