How do the presidential candidates still perform their current jobs while on the campaign trail?

For instance, Sarah Palin is the governor of Alaska...does she still perform all of her duties in that aspect while on the campaign trail or does someone take over for her? How does this work? Just curious...How do the presidential candidates still perform their current jobs while on the campaign trail?
They don't they should ALL be forced to resign in order to seek higher office. How do the presidential candidates still perform their current jobs while on the campaign trail?
As one person said, they don't. That's why Alaska (and other states) have Lt Governors. It's also why the there is a junior Senator in Arizona to handle state representation, while the junior Senator of Illinois is playing candidate, leaving the senior Senator to do the actual work in Congress.
Palin can probably do many things via phone and internet. It's really more of a problem for the Senators- since they have to be present to vote.
They have other people take over the responsibilities.
That what Lt Governor's are for
Short answer: They don't.
someone would take over
