I am constantly receiving flyers in the mail. selling and promoting all sorts of services and products. MORE JUNK MAIL!!! Direct marketing is like fishing, you know there are lots of fish in the lake, but you throw in a line and hope to catch one. Direct marketing is the same. you let everybody know about your product and hopefully someone in that group will want it. If you want to advertise that way. your advertisement MUST stand out from all the others. You must first get them to read it. So pictures and as little writing as possible works best. To much information will make the customer glance over it. You're objective is to get them into your store!! where you can sell the products. Your direct marketing should focus on getting them to visit your store, Market the store, not the lights.
As for some other marketing ideas.
Consider, Doctors offices, Clinics, display/show homes, Hotels etc. Offer to loan/provide lamps (change regularly) for their waiting rooms etc. in exchange for them allowing you to place your company business card at the lamp base. Also place brochures in with the magazines.
Contact Electricians. offer a sales commission for any fixtures sold to people who are having the electrician install for them.
The majority of people who are in the market for lighting fixtures at the time your direct marketing campaign is conducted will be very small and may not be a cost effective marketing plan.
You should consider a direct marketing campaign that is specifically aimed towards the right target group.
