Why is the Battle of Pozieres as significant to Australians as the Galipoli Campaign?

In the words of Australian official historian Charles Bean, the Pozi猫res ridge is ';more densely sown with Australian sacrifice than any other place on earth.';

The German commander ordered ';At any price Hill 160 Pozi猫res ridge must be recovered.';

From their vantage in the O.G. Lines on the eastern edge of the Pozi猫res ridge, the Australians now looked over green countryside, the village of Courcelette close by and the woods around Bapaume five miles (8 km) away.

Pozierers was a costly battle for the Australians, but the gains were tremendous. They had put real pressure on the Germans for the first time. They were looking at the back of the German lines, something the entire British and French Armies had not been able to accomplish the entire war.Why is the Battle of Pozieres as significant to Australians as the Galipoli Campaign?
The significant loss of life and the displays of mateship and comradeship between the Australian soldiers.
